Duterte meets 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray

DAVAO CITY (December 20)—President Rodrigo  Duterte met  the victorious  Filipina Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray  in a courtesy  call  at Villamor Airbase Thursday evening.

In a series of photos taken by Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, Duterte was in a casual collared shirt,  while Gray was in pantsuit, when  the President handed a  bouquet of orchids to Gray.

Gray is  the 4th Filipina to win the coveted crown,  she went home for a quick visit days after her victory in Bangkok, Thailand, last Monday, December 17.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said their meeting took place at 6:20 p.m. at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

Panelo said the President also thanked Gray for bringing home the crown and making Filipinos proud.

“They are just exchanging pleasantries. He thanked her for bringing the crown. He said everybody is euphoric about her win,” Panelo told reporters in a message.

Gray won the country’s fourth Miss Universe crown, taking after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran, (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).

She is expected to fly to the US in January next year to fulfill her Miss Universe duties. –NewsLine.ph
