DAVAO CITY  (December 10) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, December 7, emphasized the importance of road safety and safe motorcycle riding during the closing ceremony of the Motorcycle Riding Course (MCRC) and Motorcycle Riding Safety Training (MRST) held at Rancho Palos Verdes Clubhouse.

“I am glad to join you today as we honor the graduating LYCANS of the Motorcycle Riding Safety Training Class and the Motorcycle Riding Course [Class] 2018,” President Duterte said

“I commend the more than 200 graduates from the PNP, BFP, BJMP, and our civilian sector for your commitment and dedication to finish these training programs on proper driving techniques and road safety,” he added.

President Duterte commended the Philippine National Police Security and its Highway Patrol Group for embodying the administration’s thrust in championing the significance of traffic enforcement and safe motorcycle riding.

He said the agency’s dedication in fostering greater awareness of road safety and traffic issues through a capacity building is indeed “noteworthy.”

The Chief Executive, therefore, hoped that the graduates would remain steadfast in their role in promoting road security.

“As we conclude today’s program, I hope that the graduates [we] honor today will remain steadfast in their crucial role in promoting the proper safety mindset and driving proficiency which ensure the safety of our road and traffic conditions,” he stated.

The President also assured the graduates of the administration’s support and commitment in addressing the “perennial problems of our commuters,” while implicating the importance of accountability to the new graduates in conducting their duty.

“Let me also remind you that whenever you use your motorcycles in the line of duty, you do so as agents of this government and as protectors of our people. Never allow yourselves to be tempted to make a profit out of it by offering services to private entities. Those caught will be held accountable,” he said.

“Together, let us foster a culture of diligence…accountability. Itong word talaga ‘accountability.’ Iyong managot kung anong kasalanan mo…accountability and discernment among our motorists so that we may move forward as a more progressive nation,” he continued.

Before his remarks,  Duterte led the ceremonial distribution of certificates and the pinning of the badge to the graduates. He also pledged to provide a motorcycle to each of the three graduates who were named best riders. –NewsLine
