DAVAO CITY  — President Rodrigo Duterte will most likely announce the next Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth ) president and chief executive officer on Monday August 31, this was revealed by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said Friday.

Go said President is considering “the best person” to replace the controversial PhilHealth president and chief executive officer Ricardo Morales who resigned on August 26.

Reports said, Duterte wanted Morales out and resignation was a must.

Go on Friday told reporters here, “The president called me this early morning and told me that he has somebody in his mind to replace [Morales] and will make his decision on Monday,” Go said.

The senator said there was a need for an immediate replacement so that PhilHealth’s services remain unhampered.

But Go emphasized, Morales resignation does not mean he is scot-free, saying the resigned officer will still face the investigation over the P15-billion anomaly at PhilHealth.

Go stressed “Someone should be held accountable. We should get to the bottom of this deeply rooted and systemic corruption in PhilHealth.”

The senator said investigation will not end “until the agency is cured of corruption and those responsible for the irregularities are brought to justice. It’s the money of the people. Let us give our fellowmen the rightful service that they deserve.”

Moreover, Go said that “both curative and preventive” measures are needed to completely stamp out the “systemic and systematic corruption” not only in PhilHealth but also the entire government.-Newsline.ph
