Duterte wants wounded soldier, police to pay only P225 monthly to NHA

February 1, 2019 by Editha Z. Caduaya

DAVAO CITY (February 1)— President Rodrigo Duterte is giving  free housing units through the National Housing Authority (NHA) to soldiers or police personnel  who suffered  full disability in line  of duty.

But for those who suffer partial disability, Duterte  offered a 50percent discount for their monthly amortization.

This means wounded soldier or police will only pay  P225 monthly amortization for their housing units, as Duterte said  he wants them to live comfortably without the burden of paying much for their houses.

Duterte announced the 50 percent housing amortization last month during the turn-over of Pleasant View Residences in Barangay Graceville, City of San Jose Del Monte.

Duterte said he wants  to make the lives of soldiers and police officers wounded in the Marawi siege comfortable by repaying only P225 monthly rather than the supposed P625.

“I thought that maski na papaano, we can make things easier for them. At least a better life, a bit comfortable — dahil nga may pinsala,” he stressed.

“So you’d be paying sana 625 a month. Sabi ko, babaan mo 225 lang… 225. Sabi ko, 50 percent discount, ” he added.

Marcelino P. Escalada, NHA general manager said All AFP/PNP housing projects undertaken by the NHA under the Duterte administration will be provided with amenities and recreational facilities.

Housing projects which remain unoccupied will be enhanced and will be made available for sectoral housing to cope up with the housing backlogs but it should be improved and must be a decent one, Escalada added.

“We enhanced all housing AFP/PNP housing projects, those undertaken but not occupied until June 30, 2016 are enhanced, from 26sq. meter floor area to 40sq. this time , with  loft, and every housing unit is a decent one, unlike before it was just a cemented floor now it is a tiled floor and we use coloured roof,” Escalada emphasized.

The President has a standing order, to make every AFP/PNP “A home where they can build their dreams and chart a brighter future,”Escalada emphasized.

Providing wounded soldiers/police personnel a decent home will give them the venue to start anew as they build their family’s future in this community.

In his the President’s way to say thank you to those who remain loyal to their pledge to protect the people and the republic, Escalada added.

Duterte acknowledged the hard work of the National Housing Authority (NHA) in fulfilling its mandate to help Filipinos realize their dream of having comfortable homes of their own.

“May the NHA remain committed in its efforts to provide decent and affordable quality homes to our people,” Duterte said.-Editha Z. Caduaya/NewsLine.ph
