Elderly man found dead in Davao overpass on Father’s Day

DAVAO CITY – On the morning of June 16, Father’s Day, a 63-year-old man was discovered dead under the overpass in front of Assumption College along Cabaguio Avenue. The deceased has been identified as Sixto Leones Lacorte, a resident of Zone 5, San Vicente, Buhangin.

Initial investigations by the police suggest that Lacorte may have taken his own life. A .38 caliber revolver was found near his body, and he was discovered bleeding. Authorities noted that Lacorte had been suffering from stage 4 cancer, which may have contributed to his actions.

According to a report from the Bajada Police Station, Lacorte was also involved in a recent controversy where he allegedly embezzled a significant sum of money from a charity. This incident added to his troubles and may have played a role in the tragedy.

It was reported that earlier that morning, Lacorte had visited his brother’s house in Barangay San Antonio, Agdao. He left around 4:00 AM, expressing a desire to return to his home in Buhangin.

Lacorte’s body has been taken to a local funeral home as the investigation continues. The police are looking into all aspects of the case to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.

This sad event on Father’s Day has brought a somber mood to the community, as friends and neighbors remember Lacorte and reflect on the complexities of his final days.
