DAVAO CITY — The provincial government of Davao Oriental has reported that the magnitude 7.1 earthquake which epicenter was located 55 km, 019 Km N 14° E of City of Mati, did not leave any damage to the area.
In a social media post, the provincial disaster risk reduction management office states, “There are no damages reported so far in the province of Davao Oriental after being jolted by a 7.1 magnitude quake that occurred at 1:46 earlier this morning.”
It added, that the teams from the PDRRMO – Operation Center have conducted an assessment earlier today in tsunami-prone areas and critical facilities including the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC).
All local government units in said province are currently doing their assessment in their respective areas of responsibility.
“Coordination is currently ongoing with the members of the PDRRM Council.,” it added.
Based on the Earthquake Information released by the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake is tectonic, originating off the coast of the municipality of Governor Generoso.
There is no tsunami warning. Despite the fact that no damage has been reported, the PDRRMO reminds the public to remain calm, be aware of potential hazards, and stay informed. Governor Nelson Dayanghirang emphasized this point.
