MANILA (July 17) — A 52-year-old Filipino caregiver wanted in the United States on multiple child sexual abuse charges has been added to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Most Wanted list, with authorities believing he is now residing in the Philippines.
The FBI on Tuesday published a wanted poster for Dormido on its official FBI Most Wanted Facebook page, renewing efforts to locate and arrest the fugitive, who has been on the run for nearly 11 years.
According to the FBI, Dormido is accused of sexually abusing minors in Manhattan Beach, California, where he worked as a caregiver.
He faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of lewd acts upon a child, one count of a forcible lewd act upon a child, two counts involving oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child aged 10 and below, and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Investigators said Dormido fled California on July 13, 2015, boarding a flight from Los Angeles to Taipei, Taiwan, before eventually returning to the Philippines.
The FBI believes he is currently living somewhere in the Philippines and noted that he may still have relatives residing in California.
The agency is urging anyone with information that could lead to Dormido’s arrest or location to report it immediately through the FBI or appropriate law enforcement authorities.
The renewed appeal highlights continuing cooperation between U.S. and Philippine authorities in tracking fugitives accused of serious crimes against children, particularly those who flee across international borders to evade prosecution.
