DAVAO CITY (November 6) — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spearheaded the inauguration of the country’s first “landport” in the Southwestern part of Metro Manila – the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), with a maximum daily capacity of 100,000 passengers.

Duterte said that PITX is one of the three intermodal terminals to be developed by the government in cooperation with the private sector to address the traffic congestion in Metro Manila.

“This will help ease traffic by limiting provincial buses plying Metro Manila roads, specifically along Roxas Boulevard and the EDSA-Taft area,” President Duterte said.

“It will also serve as a transfer point between the provincial buses from Cavite and western Batangas and other in-city modes of transportation,” he added.

President Duterte described PITX as a landmark project – a “landport” that feels and functions like an airport. It would offer the Filipino commuters a safer and convenient terminal experience with state-of-the-art amenities.

He directed the Department of Transportation and its partner MWM Terminals Inc. to implement necessary measures to ensure all transport vehicles at the PITX have proper documentation. They should also be roadworthy and compliant with environmental laws.

“So I am impressed. I am proud na ginawa nila itong magandang structure. It will serve the Filipinos, and that is what’s very important to me,” he said.

“Together, let us work hard to lay down the physical foundations of a more progressive and prosperous nation so that our countrymen will enjoy at the very least, not a rich life, not even a bar lower than that, but at least a comfortable life,” he continued.

Before his speech, the President had a tour of PITX and a firsthand experience of its facilities, such as the Ticketing Counter and Boarding Area. –  NewsLine/ PND
