DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Five vehicles were involved in two separate accidents in Davao City on July 3 and 4.
In the first accident, a multicab, a truck, and a special utility vehicle (SUV) were involved in a collision along the Davao-Bukidnon Highway early on Thursday morning, July 4. The multicab and the truck were moving side by side towards the Ulas junction when the SUV, coming from the opposite direction, suddenly rammed into their vehicles.
Thiela Villanueva, 35, a resident of a small village in Barangay Mintal, who was riding inside the multicab, was wounded. Villanueva was immediately brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for treatment. The drivers involved were taken to the Baliok Police Precinct for further investigation. All vehicles sustained significant damages.
In the second accident on July 3, a motorbike was wrecked when it collided with an SUV in Lower Tamugan, Marilog District. The rider, identified by the police as Ada Maing, 47, was injured and brought to the district hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday, Land Transportation Office XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon revealed that “87 percent of road crash accidents are caused by human error.”
