Flood hits Davao City villages

DAVAO CITY (UPDATED) — Flood hits a number of barangays here.

The Davao City Police Office reported “as of 9 pm, Aug. 28, 2019, Calinan District Area is now in normal situation as rain stop and flood water subside, except in Barangay Pangyan, the bridge was damaged and has been rendered impassable.”

Residents of Barangay Bangkal and other parts of Talomo district waded through a waist-deep water as rescue teams brought them to higher grounds.

The successive heavy downpour in the hinterlands during the last two days triggered the flooding.

—Talomo Police Search and Rescue onboard Matina Pangi for monitoring of rivers in Km 6 and Km8 of the said area. Status of the river in km6 remains to be normal, but water level is slowly rising due to excessive rain, while river located in km8 is now impassable due to high water level.

Central Park Bangkal lower area starting to flood and power in the said area now isolated to avoid electrocution accidents.

>Ongoing rescue and evacuation by Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Talomo in Brgy. Talomo. Flash flood, overflow of Talomo River. Water at waist level.

>Areas affected: Ulas, Taal 1 and Taal 2, Sunny Vill., Teachers Village and Morio- Morio Village.

>Evacuation Area: Brgy. Hall and Taal Gym

>Deployed two dumptrucks for Brgy. Talomo.

>CDRRMO-OPCEN broadcasted to all available volunteers to proceed to Brgy. Tugbok and Brgy. Los Amigos Area.

>911 squadron, Balusong Rescue now in Tugbok Area.

>Deployed Wingvan and dumptrucks to transfer affected families from Tugbok to Los Amigos evacuation center.

>Evacuation Center: Los Amigos Evacuation Center.

All safety issues in flooded areas were alL addressed. 911, Davao City Police Office, Barangay Responders, and other support units are on board these areas.
