DAVAO CITY (May 13) — Incumbent Davao del Norte Governor Edwin “Kuya Gov” Jubahib has secured re-election in the 2025 local polls, based on official results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Jubahib, running under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), maintained a commanding lead over his closest rival, Representative Allan Dujali of Lakas-CMD.
His daughter, Clarice Jubahib, also dominated the vice gubernatorial race, setting the stage for a historic father-daughter tandem to lead the province’s executive branch.
With over 80% of precincts reporting, Governor Jubahib received 258,752 votes, while Dujali garnered 187,431 votes. Dujali has since publicly conceded.
In a heartfelt social media post, Dujali wrote: “From my heart, thank you so much for your unwavering support, love, and belief in my goals and vision for Davao del Norte. The fact that so many have shown their trust and support is already a great victory. We did not win in numbers but in the people’s hearts, and no position can replace that.”
He also emphasized that Team ALDU will continue to serve the people even without formal positions in government.
The vote margin of over 70,000 makes Jubahib’s victory unassailable and secures him a third consecutive term. His re-election caps a heated campaign, marked by a high-profile split with former ally and mentor, former Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, who backed Dujali.
Jubahib campaigned on the continuity of flagship programs focused on infrastructure development, agriculture, and social services. His win reinforces his political foothold in the province for another three years.
In the vice gubernatorial contest, Clarice Jubahib, also under PFP, led a three-way race with 181,199 votes. Her closest rival, incumbent board member Orlando “Tete” So of Lakas-CMD, garnered 135,133 votes, while Pantaleon Alvarez, running under Partido para sa Demokratikong Reporma (PDR), followed with 110,056 votes.
Clarice Jubahib’s lead of more than 46,000 votes secures her victory once final canvassing is completed.
At just 25 years old, Clarice enters the provincial political arena for the first time. She previously engaged in youth and community initiatives in Tagum City. Her victory, alongside her father’s, signals the rise of a new political dynasty in Davao del Norte.
As of this writing, So has yet to issue a formal concession. However, with the remaining uncounted precincts unlikely to change the outcome, observers anticipate acknowledging Jubahib’s win soon.
The Jubahibs ran on a unified “people-centered governance” platform, vowing coordinated efforts between the governor’s and vice governor’s offices. Their tandem is a first in the province’s history, and has drawn both applause from supporters and concern from critics wary of consolidating political power within one family.
Alongside the executive race, voters also elected Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) members, with five seats up for grabs in each of the province’s two districts.

- Lou Suaybaguio (PFP)
- “Popo” Estabillo (PFP, incumbent)
- Bong Aala (Lakas-CMD)
- Jane Ang (Lakas-CMD)

This mix of PFP and Lakas-CMD candidates reflects a balanced composition for the district. Suaybaguio, a Jubahib ally and first-time candidate, topped the race, while Estabillo retained his seat. Aala and Ang also secured spots, maintaining Lakas-CMD’s foothold on the board.
