Governor Oaminal’s performance in Misamis Occidental ‘Almost Perfect’

July 5, 2023 by Editha Z. Caduaya

OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL – Governor Henry Sevilla Oaminal’s performance in leading the province of Misamis Occidental has garnered widespread acclaim, with many hailing it as nearly flawless, despite his relatively short time in office. This resounding sentiment was echoed by Vice Governor Rowena Gutierez during the State of the Provincial Address held at the City’s Bayfront Arena last Saturday morning.

Vice Governor Gutierez, in her address, emphasized the governor’s unparalleled achievements and unwavering dedication to the people of Misamis Occidental.

“There is no denying the exceptional accomplishments that Governor Oaminal has delivered to the people of Misamis Occidental,” she stated.

Congressman Sancho Fernando Oaminal, representing the Second District of Misamis Occidental, lauded Governor Oaminal’s tireless efforts and commitment to the province’s development.

If Governor Oaminal’s performance were to be graded by his own son, the Congressman said “It is a perfect 10,” Congressman Oaminal said.

Barangay Kagawad Almer Lozanon from Barangay Poblacion in Panaon Municipality echoed this sentiment, giving Governor Oaminal an outstanding rating of 9.9 for his performance.

“Governor Oaminal has shown tremendous diligence in his service for the progress of our province,” Kagawad Lozanon commended.

Congressman Ando Oaminal further emphasized Governor Oaminal’s dedication and unyielding efforts in propelling the province forward.

“Misamis Occidental has made significant strides in its economy and has established strong connections with neighboring cities and provinces such as Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, and Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Norte,” Congressman Oaminal explained.

It should be noted that Misamis Occidental faced numerous challenges over the past decades, mainly due to the tarnished image caused by the Kuratong Baleleng Gang, which was led by Octavio Parojinog. The issue of illegal drugs further compounded the province’s struggles, resulting in the downfall of the Parojinog family, including former Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Jr.

Progress becomes an arduous journey for a place that has suffered reputational damage and struggles to attract investments due to prevailing fear.

Nevertheless, Congressman Ando Oaminal emphasized that their collective efforts are focused on regaining the people’s trust and delivering genuine public service to the entire province.

The majority of political leaders in Misamis Occidental are members of Team Asenso, led by Governor Oaminal.

Currently, residents are witnessing various development projects being implemented, ranging from rural to urban areas, as part of Governor Oaminal’s comprehensive development plan.

As it is now, the province is focusing on economic and tourism development as infrastructure and agriculture improvements are on the ground.

While Governor Oaminal’s one year in office has seen significant achievements, there is still much work to be done.

Oaminal recognizes that the people come first and are at the heart of public service. He says their support is instrumental, therefore local government spending must benefit the entire community.

Moreover, it is essential for the people to understand that their power lies in their ability to shape the government. The progress or failure of a province is contingent on the unity between the government and its constituents, working hand in hand to achieve these common goals.-Editha Z. Caduaya
