DAVAO CITY — Two soldiers and a Civilian Active Auxiliary or CAA were injured when a grenade was lobbed at the CAFGU Patrol Base in barangay Timbangan, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Monday.

The injured soldiers were identified as SSgt. Jester Arsulo, Sgt. Bryan Baylon while CAA recognized Datu Nor Akmad. The two soldiers belong to the 33rd Infantry Battalion.

According to 601st Brigade Civil Military Operations Officer Major Saber Balogan, the motive behind the abandonment of Granada was revenge. Major Balogan said this was done by the Daulah Islamiyah Hassan Group as revenge for eleven (11) of their comrades who died in a military operation in December 2023 in Brgy Tuayan Mother, Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur. The three injured are still recovering at the hospital.

All patrols at the 601st Brigade base are now on alert because of the incident while the perpetrators of the crime are still being chased. Balogan explained that the forces of the Daulah-Islmiyah Group are now weak, but they will continue to attack.
