CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (October 10)  — The Iligan City Government is ramping up its disaster preparedness with new equipment and modernization programs aimed at strengthening emergency response.

On Wednesday, Mayor Frederick Siao led the turnover of a ₱1.5-million Type 1 ambulance to the Bureau of Fire Protection – Iligan City Fire Station to boost its emergency operations.

“This ambulance will reinforce the needed help for our firefighters, especially if our disaster office is busy responding to other emergency calls,” Siao said.

The mayor said the city is also extending allowances and additional budget support to the BFP as part of his administration’s commitment to improving local disaster and rescue capacity.

The Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO) is likewise enhancing its equipment and training programs following its recent assessment of the Cebu earthquake incident.

CDRRMO chief Armien Aloro said the city has requested additional CCTV cameras and specialized drones for real-time monitoring. A new “Resilience 101” program will also be rolled out for responders and volunteers to boost community preparedness.
