LAOAG CITY, Philippines— Government workers and environmentalist of of Paoay town Leyte planted indigenous trees in an effort to re-green sand dunes Saturday, August 12.
The group led by Paoay, Ilocos Norte Mayor Jessie Galano, the group planted the barren areas with agoho trees and other indigenous trees in an effort to beautify and re-green sand dunes.
The group planted Agoho trees which is among the common species found in the hilly portion of the Paoay sand dunes.
Galano said they plan to plant more trees in the area not only to beautify its cinematic landscape but also to preserve its environment.
The Paoay sand dunes, sits in the 88 sq. km stretch of a parched paradise adjacent to the beach of Suba in Northern Philippines.
The Paoay sand dunes was among the location sites for the movies Ang Panday, Temptation Island, Himala, Born on the Fourth Day of July and many more.
Among those participated in the tree planting activity include; Liga ng mga Barangay, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Guardians Heritage Chapter, Armed Forces of the Philippines reservists, Deltans Tumba riders and Metro Bank employees, the tree-planting activity hopes to inspire more people to care for the environment where they draw livelihood.-Newsline.ph and Lielani Adriano (PNA)
