Judge who wed brgy dad issues search warrant against him for drugs

April 23, 2018 by NewsLine Philippines

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines — Judge Renato Arroyo of Misamis Oriental officiated the wedding of Barangay Kagawad Joseph Christian Lim, 33, of Lugait, Misamis Oriental last April 18, but just three days after his wedding the same judge issued a search warrant for his alleged involvement in drugs.

Lim was arrested early morning of Saturday, April 21, 2018 by the Provincial Drugs Enforcement Unit of Misamis Oriental for his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

Lim is a nephew of the former Lugait Municipal Mayor, who was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as ‘drug coddler’. The former mayor denied this.

Police Senior Inspector James Bastatas of the PNP PDEU Misamis Oriental District 2, said the younger Lim is in the number 234th drug watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and of the PNP’s Intelligence Branch in Misamis Oriental.

But Lim’s constituents said the councilor is a good man.

During the search, police seized four sachets of ‘shabu’, including a 9mm pistol, hand grenade, a caliber 22 rifle and more than 100 ammunitions.

Lim is the fifth barangay official arrested in an anti-drug operation of the police since January this year.

Last January, Annie Sereṅo, a barangay kagawad of Linangkayan, Naawan was arrested together with her husband and son.

A barangay chairperson of Camanga in Manticao, Johnny Dengue was also arrested on February, followed by the arrest of Kapitan Francis Ian Tupag of Pontacon, Initao on March and kagawad Daroy Loretche of Matangad, Initao on the first week of this month.-Divia M. Suson/Newsline.ph
