Kadayawan sa Davao

DAVAO CITY ( August 8) – The Kadayawan Festival 2025 officially began with the Misa Pasasalamat (Thanksgiving Mass) held at the historic San Pedro Cathedral, setting a solemn and meaningful tone for the weeklong celebration of Davao’s culture, faith, and abundance.

Presided over by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, the Mass gathered city officials, festival organizers, and members of the public in prayer and thanksgiving. Among the attendees was Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, whose presence reaffirmed her continued support for the city’s most vibrant and significant cultural event.

In his homily, Archbishop Valles highlighted the importance of gratitude, unity, and cultural pride, especially in a city known for its rich traditions and harmonious diversity. He also called on Dabawenyos to carry the spirit of Kadayawan beyond the festivities by fostering peace and cooperation in their daily lives.

The Misa Pasasalamat serves as the spiritual anchor of the Kadayawan Festival, symbolizing the city’s collective gratitude for a bountiful harvest, resilient communities, and the preservation of indigenous cultures.

Now in full swing, Kadayawan 2025 promises a dynamic lineup of events, performances, and showcases that honor the 11 ethnolinguistic tribes of Davao and the city’s flourishing identity as a center of culture and celebration in Mindanao.
