KIDAPAWAN CITY (June 29) – For the second time in three years, Kidapawan City has broken Guinness Book of World Records and put the city in the world tourism map.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista  said the  simultaneous dance of 15,230 participants surpassed the record set by Thailand’s 500-man simultaneous dance that Guinness recognized.

Evangelista said adjudicators from Guinness did not only appreciate the huge number of dancers but also praised the well-coordinated and choreographed samba dance steps of all participants during the record breaking event.

The Largest Samba Dance of Luiz Fonzi’s Despacito was performed along the three-kilometer stretch of the national highway in the city on February 12 this year as part of the city’s 20th foundation anniversary.

The new world record also surpassed the earlier Guinness record that Kidapawan City had done when it performed on August 30, 2016 the “World’s Largest Cha-Cha-Cha” with 14,275 participants.

Evangelista spearheaded both world record events in partnership with the Kidapawan City Dance Sport Association, Department of Education and other stakeholders.

The city’s world largest Samba dance was participated in by students and pupils from all of the city’s private and public schools, public officials, government employees, senior citizens and private individuals.
