DAVAO CITY — The Korean Embassy in the Philippines on Tuesday expressed concern over the incidents which involve Philippines and China.
In a message released on the Facebook Page of the Korean Embassy in the Philippines, the Korean government stated:
“The ROK Embassy in the Philippines is deeply concerned about the dangerous situation caused by collision between the Chinese and the Philippine vessels and use of water cannons against the Philippine vessels in the South China Sea.”
The Embassy added “The situation threatens the safety of crew members and raises tensions in the concerned waters. We reiterate that peace, stability and rules-based order in the SCS must be upheld together with the freedom of navigation and overflight based on the principles of international law, including UNCLOS.”
The South China Sea is recognized by the Philippines as the West Philippine Sea.
On Monday, the National Task Force on West Philippine Sea claimed four Philippine Navy members were injured after the Chinese Coast Guard fired water cannons against the Philippine vessel.
The National Task Force on West Philippine Sea said China’s actions as “provocative, unilateral, illegal, and unprofessional.”
