MISAMIS ORIENTAL (December 3) — The lady who fed the stray dogs of Marawi during the siege died in a road mishap on Saturday, December 1, in Barangay Tibugan, Initao, Misamis Oriental.
Rosa Apag, 55, employee of the city government of Iligan, was featured last year as the woman who helped the Iligan City Veterinarian’s Office and the Animal Kingdom Group fed the starving stray dogs which were left by the owners during the Marawi crisis.
On Saturday, however, Apag, her husband Gilberto and her sister Maria Teresa, 46 , died in a vehicular accident.
They were declared dead-upon-arrival at Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital (MOPH)-Initao.
Case Investigator Police Officer 3 (PO3) Francis Dadole, of Initao Municipal Police Station revealed, that the victims car lost control which resulted to their untimely death.
According to Dadole, the victims were on their way home from Cagayan de Oro, when their vehicle driven by Edgar Dale Zaragoza, 17, son of Maria Teresa, maneuvered to overtake another car but during the execution, there was a vehicle was approaching the opposite direction, when it maneuvered back to its proper lane, it lost control.
“The driver tried to overtake but another vehicle was coming, when he returned to his proper lane he lost control, their pick up rammed on a signage and fell into an excavated easement,” he added.
Three died, but Edgar Dale Zaragoza, and Hermelinda Velte suffered injuries, they were brought to Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Iligan City.-Divina M. Suson/NewsLine. ph
