Some 275 student-beneficiaries of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) from Barangays Luhib, Talisay, and Bacdulong, Lake Sebu town in Souith Cotabato graduated on March 21 with a Farmer’s Field School (FFS) in Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization.
The Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund of the Department of Agriculture designed the course.
Lake Sebu Mayor Floro Gamdam said that the students, who graduated from the program implementer South Asiatech College, Inc., were funded by their local government unit in an effort to boost farm production in their town.
“It is very helpful for the graduates to finish their course because they will learn more about how to use new technologies to improve the production of their fields,” Gamdam said.
TESDA Provincial Office headed by Provincial Director Alfredo Panuela also encouraged other residents to take similar courses to increase their farm production.
Gamdam said the local government supported TESDA programs for their residents and called on barangay officials to avail themselves of such government programs.
