Magnitude 4.7 quake hits Davao del Sur

DAVAO CITY — A magnitude 4.7 tectonic earthquake shook the town of Magsaysay in Davao del Sur at 2:51 Friday morning, no damage has been reported, so far.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the earthquake was detected southeast of Kibalawan town with a depth of 16 kilometer.

The quake was also felt in the following areas: Intensity III – Kidapawan City in North Cotabato; Koronadal City and Tupi in South Cotabato; Malungon in Sarangani Province while Intensity II was recorded in Alabel, Sarangani and Intensity I – General Santos City.

Phivolcs advise residents in said town to expect aftershocks.-Newsline
