Magnitude 5.5. quake hits DavOcc

MANILA – A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

 The tectonic quake struck 141 km. southeast of the municipality of Jose Abad Santos at 2:45 a.m. 

It had a depth of 52 kilometers. Intensity 2 was recorded in Kiamba, Alabel, and Malungon, Sarangani; and Intensity 1 in General Santos City and Tupi, South Cotabato; and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. 

Phivolcs, meanwhile, said it is not expecting any damage from the temblor but there is a possibility of an aftershock to occur. –PNA
