Maguindanao Norte village officer, wife killed

DAVAO CITY — Two suspected gunmen killed a Barangay council member of Polloc and his wife in a congested area in Parang public market, Maguindanao del Norte on Easter Sunday.

The CCTV footage showed that the red sedan of the couple was traversing Rizal Avenue at Parang public market when the gunmen tailed and shot the victims.

The report of Parang Municipal Police identified the victims as Abdulamalik Uban, who was dring the vehicle died on the spot while his wife Salma Uban survived but later expired while at hospital confinement.

In a statement on social media, Parang Police Station Chief Police Major Christopher Cabugwang said that he created a Special Investigation Task Force which will be responsible for conducting a thorough investigation to quickly and accurately identify the suspects.

The police is eyeing the possible upcoming barangay elections as among the motive of the killings.

.“The victims’ families are assured that justice will be done and that it would devote all of its law enforcement resources to this case in order to hold those criminally liable,” Cabugwang said.

“While the investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive of the crime, let us help our authorities for possible information which will lead to the immediate identification of the suspects and their arrest,” Cabugwang said.
