Makati RTC orders arrest of Senator Trillanes

September 25, 2018 by Editha Z. Caduaya

DAVAO CITY (September 25) —- The Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC)  Branch 150 has granted the motion of the Department of Justice for the issuance of arrest warrant and Hold Departure Order (HDO) against Senator Antonio Trillanes.

As of now, Trillanes is still at the Senate building, Whern informed about his impending arrest, he said  told reporters “For all intense and purposes, nanaig ang Kasamaan.”

The Makati RTC Branch 150,   handles the rebellion case against Trillanes over the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.

The order came  21 days since Duterte voided the former Navy officer’s 2011 amnesty.

The court, in a 2-page order by Judge Elmo Alameda, also banned the lawmaker from leaving the country without its permission.

It set bail at P200,000 for Trillanes’ temporary liberty.

But Trillanes can still get his temporary freedom as the  court sets  P200,000 bailbond.

Philippine National Police director Oscar Abalyalde in an interview with CNN Philippines  said the Sheriff,  together with Makati Chief of Police, Chief Superintendent Simon and elements from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) are now on its way to the Senate.

Albayalde said they police and the CIDG will coordinate with the leaders of the Senate in the implementation of the order.

Magdalao representative Gary Alejano said he was surprised with the issuance of the Warrant of Arrest saying “It seems that  somebody gave un to the pressure of Malacañang.”

Aljeno said “Senator Trillanes  has earlier said,  as long as there is valid warrant of arrest he won’t resists arrest.”

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque urged Trillanes to respect the court order.

In an interview with ANC, Roque said that warrant of arrest “Is immediately executory and he should show respect for our court processes, voluntarily surrender and face the charges against him.”

“Whatever Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has to say can be addressed to the court. Let us stop the drama by presscon and allow the legal process to take its course,” he added in a statement.-Editha Z. Caduaya/NewsLine.ph
