MANILA – Malacañang on Monday welcomed the “very good” net satisfaction rating received by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in the third quarter despite the Chief Executive repeatedly saying he did not care about ratings and was only focused on doing is job.
“Paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng Presidente, wala naman siyang pakialam sa survey; hindi siya nanunungkulan ayon sa survey (The President has repeatedly said that he does not care about surveys; he does not serve on the basis of surveys),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview over Radyo Pilipinas.
“Gayun pa man ay nagagalak siyempre po tayo at ‘very good’ na naman ang Presidente (Nevertheless, we are glad that the President’s net satisfaction rating is very good again),” he added.
Roque said this meant that despite the country’s problems, including rising inflation and rice supply issues, Filipinos still believed that the President is not sleeping on the job.
“Ginagamit ang kaniyang kapangyarihan para maibsan iyong kahirapan ng taumbayan (He’s using his power to alleviate the country’s poverty),” Roque said.
In the survey conducted from Sept. 15 to 23, the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey found that 70 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with Duterte’s performance as President, 16 percent were dissatisfied, while 14 percent were undecided.
Gross satisfaction with Duterte’s performance improved by five points from 65 percent, gross dissatisfaction fell by four points from 20 percent, and gross undecided decreased by one point from 15 percent.
According to the survey, Duterte has a net satisfaction rating of +54, which is classified by SWS as “very good”.
It also marks a nine-point increase, and one grade up, from his personal record-low of “good” +45 in June.
In a recent Pulse Asia survey, Duterte remained as the national official with the highest approval and trust ratings despite suffering a double-digit drop.
Results of the Pulse Asia survey, conducted from Sept. 1 to 7, showed the President scored a 75 percent approval rating and a 72 percent trust rating.
These figures are 13 points and 15 points lower than his approval and trust rating in the previous quarter at 88 percent and 87 percent, respectively.
“I believe that’s still a very good approval rating. Certainly still the highest of all the officials surveyed by Pulse Asia,” Roque said in an earlier briefing. -PNA
