DAVAO CITY — A 50-year-old man, who had loudly claimed he was “bulletproof” and identified himself as a “Kublan,” was injured after being shot in the knee by his drinking companion in Purok New Visayas, Barangay Acacia.

Mandug Police Station Chief Major Rejie Torrita explained that during a drinking session, the victim’s boastful remarks reportedly provoked his companion. In response, the suspect retrieved an airgun loaded with pellets and shot the victim in the knee.

The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Major Torrita noted that the airgun, typically used for shooting birds, was involved in the incident.

Authorities have since arrested the suspect, who now faces charges of frustrated homicide, illegal possession of firearms under Republic Act 0591, and violation of the Comelec gun ban currently in effect.
