DAVAO CITY — President Ferdinand R.  Marcos Jr. appointed retired Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Melchor Quirino Sadang as the new chairman of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).

The Presidential Communication Office on Monday announced Sadang’s appointment to replace John Agbayani.

The PCGG is a quasi-judicial government agency whose primary mandate is to recover ill-gotten wealth accumulated by the President’s late father Ferdinand E. Marcos, his immediate family, and their cronies during his term.

In 2023, Sadang was part of the panel that reviewed the courtesy resignations submitted by police officials when the DILG tried to weed out from the Philippine National Police its ranking officials with ties to the illegal drug trade.

He was a CA justice from 2011 to 2017 and a presiding judge of the Cavite City Regional Trial Court from 2000 to 2011.
