MANILA (June 25) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday led the destruction of over ₱9.4 billion worth of seized illegal drugs at a waste facility in Capas, Tarlac, saying he wanted to witness the entire process “from capture to destruction.”

“We must ensure these confiscated drugs are completely destroyed and can never return to the streets,” Marcos said at the Clean Leaf International Corp. facility.

Among those incinerated were 1,304 kg of shabu worth ₱8.8 billion, much of it recovered floating off the coasts of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan. The drugs were destroyed through thermal decomposition at 700°C for 10 hours, followed by a 12-hour cooling phase.

Other substances included liquid shabu, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, toluene, lidocaine, and expired medicines, all from various anti-drug operations. For drugs with no suspects, destruction was authorized under Dangerous Drugs Board regulations.

Marcos also reiterated his call for intensified anti-drug efforts against both syndicates and street-level dealers, with strict measures to prevent recycled contraband.
