Marwan’s wife, police officer, 3 others arrested in Lanao del Norte

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Authorities arrested Juromee Dongon, wife of slain Jemaah Islamiyah bomber Zulkifli Bin- aka Marwan, in Tubod, Lanao del Norte around 6:22 in the morning, Sunday, February 25, 2018.

The synchronized joint operations by the Police and military authorities led to Dongon’s arrest as well as four family members.

-SPO4 Andy Atta – brother-in-law
-Lorlie Atta – sister
-Romeo Aborido Dongon, aka Faisaland Norein Dongon Santos – father
-Norein Santos – sister

The authorities conducted the joint operations by virtue of search warrant nos. SW-99-2018 and 100-2018 for illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives against Juromee Pindoy Dongon alias Tata/Saynab or Alias Zainab Janjalani.

Confiscated from their possession were one fragmentation grenade, six blasting caps, one blasting cap assembly, one piece electric detonating cord color yellow, one 7-inch non- electric detonating cord, plastic container, sling bag color violet, 9mm Glock 17 Gen 4, PNP issued pistol with SN: PNP 49607, three pieces of magazine for Glock 17 Gen 4, 37 live ammunition for 9mm caliber and one black sling bag, .45 caliber pistol colt Mk1V with SN 527477, magazine for cal.45, three pieces cartridge, one fragmentation grenade M61, empty blasting cap, one yellow detonating cord, two electrical wire, handbag, one unit Lenovo laptop with charger, four mobile phones, one Samsung tablet and handbag for laptop.

Authorities alleged the suspects  were found violating Republic Act No. 10591 for the illegal possession of firearms, and Republic Act No. 9516 for the illegal possession of explosives.

Marwan, Juromee’s husband, was killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in January 2015.

Juromee is the sister of Abu Sayyaf member Reneer Lou Dongon, the husband of police Supt. Maria Cristina Nobleza who was revealed to be working with the Abu Sayyaff Group. Nobleza was arrested  in Bohol in 2017.

All the confiscated items were brought to CIDG 10 for booking and documentation.

The authorities are now preparing charges for violation of RA 10591 and RA 9516.

Police Superintendent Lemuel Gonda of Police Regional Office 10, said the operations were conducted along  with operatives from Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Force Mobile Battalion-Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office 10, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 10, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 10, 4th Military Intelligence Battalion and 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion,  Baroy Municipal police station,  PNP SAF-1st Special Action Company-12th Special Action Company, NICA 10 and, Highway patrol group.-Editha Z.
