Matina Pangi Bridge closed due to cracks, expect traffic congestion

December 15, 2019 by NewsLine Philippines

DAVAO CITY (UPDATED) —- Traffic is heavy from Maa to Bangkal area this city, as the city government ordered the closure of Matina Pangi or Carlos Garcia highway late afternoon today due to cracks found on its structure.

But as of 7:45 pm, the city government re-opened the bridge only for light vehicles only, after an inspection was conducted by the personnel from Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) XI.

The bridge was reportedly damaged by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake which jolted Southern Mindanao .

The city government has also ordered the closure of Matina Crossing pedestrian overpass due to spotted cracks.

The bridge is the main passage of motorists and hauler trucks from the north and south side of Davao region. Closure of said bridge will greatly affected motorists.
