DAVAO CITY — Our newsroom has been in the eye of the storm after the murder of our reporter Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy by still unidentified gunman, he is a great loss to this institution.
Before things be blown out of proportion, we would like to clarify some facts of the case to wit;
- The reports he submitted to our newsroom conformed with our policy; more developmental, less political and he adhered with to the newsroom security protocol;
- He was killed inside his rented apartment on October 30, 2021, at around 6:00 in the evening, by a motorcycle-riding gunman with accomplice;
- A Special Investigation Task Force Dinoy has been created by the Philippine National Police, the lawful agency in charge of the probe;
- We are in constant communication with the Dinoy family, they shared information and some concerns to us, as we submitted the same to the authorities;
- We did our own investigation on the case relative to our newsroom and we conferred every detail with family, again, we submit the knowledge we gathered to the legal authorities.
- We are resolved to the fact that our reporter was a member of the LGBTQ community and had many friends;
- Aside from our official dealings since June 2021, we are not in a position to account what transpired before he joined our newsroom, he did not reveal any security concern nor activities contrary to our policy, which might be too personal and beyond us, a thing we respect;
LET IT BE KNOWN THAT WE ARE MONOTORING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CASE, like anyone, we want JUSTICE and WE WILL RESPECT TO WHATEVER FINDINGS THAT THE TASK FORCE WILL COME OUT.
As it is now, we ask everyone NOT TO SPECULATE ABOUT THE UNDERLYING CIRCUMSTANCE BEHIND HIS DEATH AS IT MAY JEOPARDIZE THE ONGOING INVESTIGATION.
The Dinoy family and our newsroom want JUSTICE BE SERVED and again, we will submit to the outcome of the probe.
We reiterate our newsroom stand; No Story is Worth a life and each death deserve justice. –Newsline Philippines
