MNLF commander, son slain in Maguindanao ambush

COTABATO CITY (October 15) – A village official and field commander of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and his son were shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on Monday morning.

Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, spokesperson for the Philippine National Police Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Barangay Kapinpilan Councilor Abusama Agao and his son, Norodin, were ambushed around 8:30 a.m. while on their way to a wedding.

Agao’s daughter, Jahara, was wounded in the attack and taken to Maguindanao Provincial Hospital.

The gunmen fled after the shooting. Authorities have yet to determine the motive and are coordinating with the military to track down the suspects.
