DAVA CITY —Resigned Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson, has been appointed as the Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA).

Uson replaced OWWA Deputy Administrator Arnaldo Arevalo “Arnell” Ignacio, who tendered his resignation in February this year due to “personal reasons”.

OWWA is an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Uson, a pro-Duterte blogger and entertainer, was appointed as PCOO Assistant Secretary in May 2017. She ran and lost as representative of the AA Kasosyo party-list in the May 2019 midterm elections.

On October 3, 2018, Uson announced her resignation claiming that Congress purposely delayed the PCOO budget because of her.

Uson has drew flak for posting a video on her personal blog showing Drew Olivar, her co-host in Good News Game Show, singing and dancing while making vulgar gestures to promote the shift to a federalism system of government.

She was also criticized for releasing another video mocking sign language but has apologized for her mistake.

Netizens immediately criticized Uson’s new appointment on social media undermining her capacity to handle the affairs of the agency while her social media followers are happy for her.

Uson, earned a degree in Medical technology at the University of Santo Tomas and is currently taking up Bachelor of Laws at the Arellano University –ezc/with PNA report
