DAVAO CITY — Most of the Filipino migrant workers in Israel are safe in the midst of Israel crisis after Hamas attacked towns on Saturday.

Israel’s Home Front Command earlier issued a “State of War Alert”.

This developed as the Philippine Embassy in Israel has been closed. In a statement, the Philippine Embassy in Israel said it would be closed beginning this Sunday “until further notice, due to the current security situation.”

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Sunday said no reports indicate that Filipino migrant workers killed or injured during the attack.

Hans Leo Cacdac, DMW office-in-charge said his agency currently accounts for overseas Filipino workers in Israel, most especially in areas near the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian area governed by Hamas and blockaded by Israel and Egypt.

Cacdac said the DMW in Tel Aviv, Israel and the Migrant Workers Office -Israel are closely monitoring the situation and their families.

The Israel’s Home Front Command issued a “State of War Alert”.

Filipinos in Israel are advised to take specific precautionary safety measures and follow the instructions provided by the Israeli Homefront Command.

The DMW and OWWA has set up a 24/7 Task Force Israel Desk for OFWs in Israel and their families. Please call Hotline +63 2 1348 or the following WhatsApp and Viber nos: +63 9083268344 | +63 9271478186 | +63 9205171059.
