The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity, (OPAPRU) turned over a water reservoir, and a two-room school building to Barangay Alegria, Alabel town in Sarangani province on Wednesday, March 1.
OPAPRU funded the project under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program.
Two other potable water projects in Barangay Domolok, also in Alabel, which cost P1.35 million were turned over in 2021.
Alabel Municipal Mayor Vic Paul Salarda said that the government’s efforts against the Communist insurgency are essential by creating and implementing projects and programs that will help the people.
Salarda thanked OPAPRU for providing funds for the project which has been a dream come true for the people of Sitio Talifara in Barangayu Alegria.
“Access to clean and potable water is as important as the new school building, which is the foundation of a well-informed country,” Salarda said.
According to Engineer Joan Maulion, officer-in-charge of Alabel municipal engineering office, the water reservoir cost P994,000. “The water reservoir is powered by six solar panels with an inverter.
“The 2- classroom school building cost P2.7 million. Each room has a floor area of 63 square meters,” Maulion said.
Saranggani Governor Rogelio Pacquiao said that he “hopes that the residents of Talifara will take care of these projects so that they can be used for a long time.”
