MANILA – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), under the leadership of Administrator Arnaldo Ignacio, has initiated a series of assistance programs to provide relief and support to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the recent conflict in Israel.

Acknowledging the pressing need to help Filipinos facing challenging circumstances, OWWA has ramped up its efforts to safeguard the welfare of these overseas workers.

Financial assistance has been allocated to every Filipino worker impacted by the situation in Israel, with funds distributed directly to them in the affected area. This financial aid is aimed at helping OFWs address their immediate basic needs and alleviate financial burdens during this trying period, according to OWWA.

In a bid to reunite affected OFWs with their families in the Philippines, OWWA is offering a repatriation assistance package of P50,000 to each returning OFW. This financial support intends to assist their families and facilitate a smooth transition as they return to their loved ones.

Additionally, OWWA is extending support for airport and transportation arrangements for returning OFWs. They recognize the logistics challenges that these workers might face and are committed to ensuring a seamless transition as they make their way back home.

Understanding that some OFWs may require overnight stays in Manila while awaiting connecting flights to their hometowns, OWWA is providing hotel accommodations, guaranteeing their comfort and security during this temporary stay. This initiative underscores OWWA’s dedication to assisting OFWs at every stage of their journey.

Furthermore, OWWA has introduced its Balik Pinas, Balik Hanap-buhay program, aiming to empower reintegrated OFWs by offering livelihood opportunities upon their return to the Philippines. Through this initiative, repatriated workers can access training, financial assistance, and resources to start their own businesses or engage in income-generating activities. OWWA is committed to helping these individuals regain their footing and rebuild their lives within the country.

These various assistance programs provided by OWWA exemplify the organization’s unwavering commitment to the well-being and welfare of Filipino workers abroad. In times of crisis, OWWA remains a dependable and steadfast ally, providing crucial support to alleviate the hardships faced by these dedicated overseas workers. (Presidential News Desk)
