CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – Joint police operatives have arrested two lady illegal drug traders and seized around PHP 2.75 million worth of illegal drugs during a drug bust operation early dawn on Thursday.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) 4A, and the Cainta police force and Special Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), coordinated with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 4A in conducting the drug bust.

Calabarzon Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, in his report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, said that around 250 grams of shabu with street value of PHP 1.250 million, including marked money and a kilo of imported marijuana, commonly known as ‘kush’ with street value of PHP1.5 million were seized from the two lady drug traders at a Q Plaza parking area in Barangay San Isidro in Cainta, Rizal around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

Eleazar identified the two arrested drug traders as Laika Camille D. San Pedro alias ‘Michelle’ and her conspirator Maria Cecilia B. Baylon, who were found in their possession the suspected shabu placed inside a compressed plastic sachet while the kilo of marijuana was stuffed also in a compressed plastic.

He said that the two dangerous drugs were concealed in a eco bag upon the ladies’ arrival at the transaction venue during the Cainta drug buy-bust operations.

He said the suspects were able to sell some of the “shabu” substances worth PHP1,000 to an undercover agent poseur-buyer using the marked money along with a bundle of bogus money amounting to PHP 500,000 for the supposed transaction.

According to Eleazar, their police investigations disclosed that suspects Ma. Cecilia B. Baylon is the wife of Evan C. Baylon while Laika Camille San Pedro is a live-in partner of Jester Vera. The ladies’ male partners are co-inmates of Antonio Cisneros at the Metro Manila District Jail in Bicutan, who is believed to be the source of illegal drugs in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

“The items were shipped overseas through parcels wherein recipients are using different names to mislead authorities on the identities of both the shipper and the receiver of said items,” Eleazar said.

He also assured that the Police Regional Office (PRO4A), through the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and lower units with the assistance of PDEA4A, “are working hard in tandem to neutralize these individuals and track the illegal trade of shabu, marijuana and other illegal substance in our area of responsibility.” (Saul Pa-a/PNA)
