DAVAO CITY – In a significant move to improve educational infrastructure in the Bangsamoro region, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) has allocated over ₱32.5 million for the construction and enhancement of school facilities in Maguindanao del Norte.
On January 25, 2025, MBHTE officials led groundbreaking ceremonies for a series of projects under the School Division Office of Maguindanao del Norte, underscoring the regional government’s commitment to improving access to quality education.
The project includes :
-A one-story, two-classroom school building for Mumpong Elementary School in Barangay Bugawas, Datu Odin Sinsuat.
-Perimeter fencing for four schools: Sarilika National High School, Taviran Elementary School, Linek Elementary School, and Margues Elementary School, aimed at enhancing security.
-A covered court with a stage for Margues Elementary School in Barangay Makir provides students with a space for sports and school events.
-A water sanitation project for Datu Pinguiman Elementary School, including developing a water source to ensure clean water access.
-An Educational Learning Center in Barangay Bugawas, Datu Odin Sinsuat, to support alternative learning programs and student resource-sharing.
Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal emphasized that these projects go beyond infrastructure, reflecting a deeper investment in the future of Bangsamoro learners.
“Today, we are not just laying the foundation for buildings; we are laying the foundation for the future of our children. These projects are a commitment to ensuring that every Bangsamoro learner has a safe and nurturing space to learn and grow,” Iqbal stated.
The Bangsamoro government continues prioritizing education, recognizing that modern learning spaces are crucial in bridging educational gaps and empowering communities.
With these new school facilities, thousands of students in Maguindanao del Norte are expected to benefit from improved learning environments, reinforcing the region’s long-term vision for accessible and inclusive education.
