DAVAO CITY — Two containers of smuggled red onions valued at P6-million were seized by the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cagayan de Oro in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday Dec 1, 2021.

The shipment originated from China and was declared “margarine” and consigned to Humility Trading, but the Customs received intelligence information that the container contained smuggled onions which prompted Atty. Elvira Cruz, District Collector of the Port, to issue an Alert Order against the shipment.

Upon physical examination by the Customs Examiner witnessed by other line agencies of government, it turned out turned out to be smuggled red onions without Sanitary Phytosanitary Import Clearance from the Department of Agriculture.
