DAVAO CITY — Philippine Airlines (PAL) is actively arranging alternative flights for passengers of Flight PR102, which was forced to make an emergency landing at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport due to smoke detected in the cabin.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon stated that PAL ensures passengers promptly continue their journey to Los Angeles, as the original aircraft cannot proceed.
The incident occurred on April 9 when the flight from Manila diverted to Haneda following reports of smoke emitting from one of its air conditioning units. All 359 passengers and 18 crew members safely disembarked.
PAL’s ground operations team in Tokyo provides support, including meals, baggage assistance, and rebooking on alternative flights. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Civil Aeronautics Board have been directed to investigate the incident to determine appropriate actions.
