DAVAO CITY — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Tuesday released over PHP35.39 million in assistance to various government agencies and private institutions as part of its mandatory contributions.

PCSO general manager Royina Garma said the donations are part of mandatory contributions, from January to February this year, for partner institutions.

Garma, together with assistant general manager for charity sector Juliet Aseo, turned over the checks in a ceremony at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City.

The Commission on Higher Education received the largest amount of contribution with PHP18.48 million, followed by the Philippine National Police with PHP15.79 million while the National Bureau of Investigation came in third with PHP6.3 million.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross received PHP767,110, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines got PHP278,420; and the Philippine Sports Commission received PHP74,549.

She also noted that the PCSO also makes a significant contribution to Universal Health Care.

She said the agency can only sustain its financial commitments to various institutions, such as this Mandatory Contributions if the agency continues to generate revenues through its Larong May Puso like STL, Lotto, Keno, and ScratchIt tickets.

Garma urged the public to continue to support the PCSO’s games because he said they are “games with a heart” because their agency’s revenue goes to charity.

“Tanglilikin po natin ang mga tamang laro, ang mga larong may puso, lahat pumupunta sa charity ang kita ng PCSO (Let us patronize legal games, games with a heart. All earnings of the PCSO go to charity),” she said.PR
