PDEA discovers P1.1-B shabu hidden inside biscuit cans, 4 Chinese nationals arrested

DAVAO CITY (March 19) — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) discovered 166 kilos of suspected shabu hidden inside biscuit cans valued at 1.1 billion in two separate operations this afternoon of March 19.

PDEA director Aaron Aquino in an interview with NewsLine.ph “It is a product of a three -month surveillance work, and today we conducted two separate operations.”

The bags of illegal drugs were labelled “Refined Chinese Tea.”

Aquino said, in the first operations at the Festival Mall, in Muntinlupa, three Chinese nationals were arrested which led to the second operation at about 6:50 at Ayala Alabang and arrested one more Chinese National during the raid.

“Actually, they were about to deliver it when we arrived, the drugs were placed inside the biscuit cans and re-bagged to boxes and were ready for delivery,” Aquino revealed.

Aquino said “The drugs based on its packaging came from the Golden Triangle Region, it is a big drug syndicate operating around the world.

The so-called Golden Triangle Region, are drug syndicates based in Myanmar, Laos and Thailand.
