PDP-Laban mourns the death of founder, Ex-senator Aquilino “Nene’ Pimentel Jr.

DAVAO CITY — The leaders and members of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) mourns the death of its founder former senator Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel.

PDP-Laban Secretary General and Davao del Norte First District Congressman Pantaleon D. Alvarez, in a statement said :

“The party mourns the loss of our founder, the icon of democracy and a freedom fighter.”

“PDP-Laban is not what is now, without his courage and determination to unite the political forces especially those from Mindanao to have a voice and be represented in the political capital, he will always be our inspiration, he was selfless and a father to every member of the party.”

“We are hoping that the seed of Federalism he sow, will bear fruits with the able leadership of Senator Koko Pimentel.”

“We are hoping that his death , will be a reminder to each party member that service to the people is important, above political lines, that his sacrifices will become our source of strength to further foster the party towards a greater goal for the country.”

PDP-Laban is now the ruling political party in the country, with President Rodrigo Duterte being the chairman.

Pimentel founded the party in February 6, 1982. He was known to be the father of the Local Government Code and was one of the prime movers of federalism.-ezc
