Pujada Bay one of the most beautiful bays in the world

MATI CITY — Davao Oriental’s Pujada is now recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful bays.

This, after General Assembly of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World (MBBW) unanimously approved the application of Davao Oriental in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan on October 18.

A team from the provincial government of Davao Oriental, Mati City and tourism stakeholders of the province provided the general assembly with audio visual presentation and documents to prove that Pujada must be included in the list of the world’s most beautiful bays.

With its approval, a team of experts from the MBBW will be coming to conduct ground assessment and validation.

Ednar Dayanghirang, the Governor’s Chief of Staff said “The ground validation is the first official act of MBBW to visit new approved members to see what we told them, prior to induction next year for the 16th World Congress in Morocco.”

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang thanked the general assembly for accepting their application, which to him is a testament that indeed Pujada Bay is beautiful.

The new feather on their cap, according to Dayanghirang will not only boost the eco-tourism potentials of the province, it is also a challenged for every residents of Davao Oriental to help protect the marine resources and environment.

How beautiful is Pujada Bay?

Pujada bay is an hour away via boat from Mati City.

The bay is characterized by the sparkling white sand underneath the pristine blue, waters adorned with the colourful corals of varied shapes serving as playground to different species of marine animals and, beautiful marine creatures, like sea urchins , starfish and sea cucumbers,-all just a step away from the shore.

Pujada Bay is a protected landscape and seascape in Mati, it is the abode of migratory seacow or dugong during the migration period of each year.

How to reach Pujada Bay from Davao City?

Mati City is a 3-hour road trip from Davao City. One can take a public transport from Davao Overland Terminal in Ecoland or commuter vans which are stationed at Gaisano Mall, Abreeza in J.P Layreal Avenue or SM Ecoland.-Editha Z. Caduaya with report from DavOr-PIO
