Philippine Army to remain apolitical – 4ID commander

DAVAO CITY — r Local candidates, together with the Philippine Army’s 4th infantry division, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, Commission on Elections (Comelec) and election watchdogs held on Tuesday, March 1, a walk for peace, interfaith rally and peace covenant signing at Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City.

Army’s MGen. Wilbur Mamawag, 4ID commander, assured the general public, in a statement, that his command will remain apolitical or politically neutral and be one with the people in seeing to it that the May 9 national and local elections will be peaceful and orderly.

In the said activity, Colonel Michele Anayron Jr, 4ID’s Assistant Division Commander for Retirees and Reservist Affairs, who represented the 4ID, reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the ballot and ensuring an honest and peaceful elections.

As a symbol of solidarity, there was a releasing of white doves that was followed by an orientation by the Comelec to remind the candidates on election guidelines. On February 28, BGen. Ferdinand Barandon of the 403rd Brigade also attended the same activity at the Sports Complex, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
