Philippine showbiz industry mourns over death of renowned actress Jacklyn Jose

DAVAO CITY — The Philippine showbiz industry is mourning the loss of a renowned and multi-awarded actress Jacklyn Jose who was found lifeless Sunday night in her house in Quezon City.

People’s Entertainment Industry who manages her career confirmed the report in a statement.

Born as Mary Jane Santa Ana Guck better known as Jaclyn Jose was born on October 14, 1964.

In a statement, the Guck and Eigenmann families asked that they be given privacy in their time of mourning.

Jacklyn Jose is the mother of Andrea Nicole Guck Eigenmann better known as Andi Eigenmann, an actress and a social media influencer.

In a press conference on Monday, Andi revealed “It’s with great sadness that I announce the untimely passing of my Nanay, Mary Jane Guck, better known as Jaclyn Jose, at the age of 60, on the morning of March 2nd, due to a Myocardial Infarction or heart attack.”

She continued “Her undeniable legacy will definitely forever live on through her work, through her children, through her grandchildren, and the many lives she’s touched. She herself, her life itself was her greatest obra maestra.”

Known for his excellence in acting, she won the Best Actress award during the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for the movie Ma’ Rosa. She was the first Southeast Asian to receive the award.

Jacklyn also received Five Gawad Urians, two Luna Awards, and one FAMAS Award, and was previously nominated for the Asian Film Awards.

She was also known for taking the lead role in The Flor Contemplacion story, Patay na si Jesus, Marimar.

Her latest appearance was in the teleserye “Batang Quiapo” where she played Chief Espinas.
