The Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao is already set to ensure public safety and security for the celebration of Labor Day on May 1.

PNP-10 Regional Director PBGen. Lawrence Coop, Regional said that  PRO-10 will deploy enough personnel across the region to secure rallyists/demonstrators and the general public from any act of violence and lawlessness perpetrated by persons or groups who will take advantage of the situation.

“While we celebrate Labor Day to recognize the contributions of the Filipino workers in our society, we also expect some movements of various labor organizations to air their demands and grievances towards the present administration,” Coop said.

“That is why we will heighten our security to full alert status to ensure the safety and security of the community while exercising maximum tolerance and respect for human rights in handling rallies and demonstrations,” Coop added.

Coop said that PRO-10 has not received any threat for the upcoming celebration of Labor Day.

“Our coordination with the various law enforcement agencies and other sectors will continue to prevent violent activities and threats if there are any. We will also maximize our intelligence-driven effort to make sure that these security threats will not be able to penetrate and that the celebration of Labor Day will be safe and successful,” Coop said.
