PNP files murder vs suspect in journalist murder

DAVAO CITY — The Philippine National Police Special Investigation Task Group has filed murder charges against the suspect behind the killing of Newsline reporter Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy before the court this morning.

In an interview with Newsline, Philippine National Police (PNP) XI Regional Director BGen. Filmore Escobal, identified the suspect as Brandie Mercado Campaner.

“At around 8:20 this morning, we filed the case against the suspect but we are still on the process of identifying the driver of the exit motorbike,” Escobal told Newsline.

Dinoy was killed inside his rented apartment Madre Ignacia St. Bansalan, Davao del Sur, on October 30, 2021. He is the second journalist killed in 2021.

Dinoy was reporter of this organization during the last four (4) months.
