CAGAYAN DE ORO — Police Captain Abdulcahar Armama, commander of Police Station 2 in Cogon, was shot dead on Saturday night in a tragic incident that has left the community in shock.

The attack occurred near Greenhills Memorial Park in Barangay Bulua, where Armama was targeted by two unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle.

According to reports, Armama was hit by four bullets to the head and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Polymedic Medical Plaza. His body has since been transported to his hometown in Lanao del Norte.

The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) has launched a manhunt for the assailants responsible for this act of violence against a dedicated officer.

In a statement released on Sunday, PRO-10 condemned the attack, emphasizing that violence against those who serve and protect the community is intolerable.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family, friends, and colleagues of Capt. Armama during this painful and tragic time. We assure them that we will take all necessary actions to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” PRO-10 stated.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has already established a task force to investigate the incident further. PRO-10 is also calling on the public to provide any information that could assist in their inquiry, urging community solidarity in rejecting violence and seeking justice.

Armama was a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy’s Masidlak Class of 2017.

In a heartfelt statement, his family remembered him as “the best father, a responsible husband, and a loving son,” highlighting his generous and thoughtful nature.

Known for his strong stance against illegal drugs, Armama “fearlessly led the charge against drug syndicates, putting his life on the line to make our city a safer place.

His courage and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of our entire community,” the family’s tribute noted on social media.
